It is important to treat the room as a rectangle. Disregard offsets, alcoves, etc. You may use our flooring calculator if you need to determine how many tiles to use in your layout.

Find the center points of the two end walls and snap a chalk line between them. Find the center of the chalk line, and using a carpenter's square or tile, draw a second chalk line at the right angles to the first line, and extend it to the side walls. The room is now divided into four equal parts.

Now that your initial layout is completed, you are now ready to proceed to installation of your new vinyl tile flooring.
